First Response Emergency Care (FREC 4) Course

FREC 4 builds directly on FREC 3, extending a Close Protection Officer’s medical capability to match the environments in which they operate. Where FREC 3 establishes core emergency response, FREC 4 develops the clinical judgement and procedural range that high-risk and remote settings require.
A CPO working in close proximity to a principal cannot wait for emergency services. When a medical emergency occurs, the officer present is the first, and sometimes only, skilled responder available. This course prepares that officer to respond at a level consistent with the complexity of what they may face.
FREC 4 Syllabus
In the FREC 4 course, you’ll master advanced emergency care techniques, including:
- Advanced airway management, such as supraglottic airways
- Managing severe trauma, like head injuries, spinal immobilisation, and crush injuries
- Delivering advanced medical care, including cardiac interventions and ECG interpretation
- Administering a broader range of medications, focusing on pain management
- Conducting in-depth patient assessments, emphasising differential diagnosis
- Leading teams in emergency situations, improving communication and coordination during multi-casualty incidents
- Understanding legal, ethical, and professional responsibilities at an advanced level
Upon completing the FREC 4 course, you will earn a Level 4 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care. This qualification proves your ability to handle advanced medical interventions in critical situations.
